BMW is best known for its design and manufacturing of luxury cars, which are popular with both businessmen and families. They were originally established in 1917 to make aircraft engines. However, after WWI, they were forced to stop, and so shifted to motorcycle production in 1923, before moving on to cars in 1928-29.
They are based in Munich and the company is divided in three segments; Automobiles, Motorcycles and Financial Services. The Automotive segment manufactures, assembles and sells cars under the BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce brands. They also offer spare parts and accessories. The Motorcycle segments is involved in the development, manufacture, assembly and sale of both BMW and Husqvarna branded bokes. Finally, the Financial Services primarily engages in car leasing, fleet business, retail customer and dealer financing, customer deposit business and insurance activities. It collaborates with Toyota Motor Corporation for the research in the field of lithium-ion battery cells, and in 2010, the BMW group produces 1,481,253 automobiles and 112,271 motorcycles across all of its brands.Trade BMW DE
