Trade Gazprom

This is a Russian based company who engages in the exploration, production, transportation, storage and sale of gas in the Russian Federation and internationally. They are currently the largest extractor of natural gas in the world, and were created in 1989 when the Ministry of Gas Industry of the Soviet Union transformed itself into a corporation, keeping all its assets intact. Later on, the company was privatised in part, but currently the Russian government still holds the majority of the control. On top of this, they are involved in the production of crude oil and gas condensate, processing of oil, gas condensate and other hydrocarbons, the sale of refined products, and generation and sale of electric and heat energy.

The company operates the Unified Gas Supply System, consisting of 161.7 thousand kilometres of gas trunklines and branches, 215 pipeline compressor stations, 6 gas condensate treatment facilities and 25 underground gas storage facilities. In 2011, Gazprom produced 513.2 billion cubic metres of natural gas, amounting to 17% of worldwide gas production. They possess subsidiaries in many different industry sectors, including finance, media and aviation. In addition, it also controls a majority stakeholder in various other countries.
