Vivendi is a French mass media and telecommunications enterprise with activities in music, television, film, publishing, telecommunications, the internet and video games. They publish their media primarily through digital networks in France, rest of Europe, the United States, Morocco, Brazil, as well as internationally.

They own various labels, including pop-music, classical and jazz labels, markets its artists recording, before promoting them through advertisements in the media and at the points of sale.; they operate in digital music market; they own and acquire rights to musical compositions, and licenses their use; controls publishing rights of traditional classical composers; develops and markets its artists official products; and operates as a licensing agent for its various artists products. The company was originally called Vivendi Universal SA, and was founded in 1853, with its headquarters in Paris, France.

They also operate six core subsidiaries; Activision Blizzard, publisher of online and console games, Universal Music Group, SFR, a 100%-owned French telecommunications operator; Maroc Telecom Group, GVT, a telecommunications operator in Brazil, and Groupe Canal+, a subsidiary offering premium and theme channel distribution and programming in France.
